Henning Larsen (1925-2013)belongs to the great generation af Danish architects, who have caused international attention - in the same league as Jørn Utzon (the Sydney Opera) and Johan von Spreckelsen (the Triumph Arch in Paris). Henning Larsens last great work was the Copenhagen Opera House, which unfortunately was marred by the building owner, Mærsk McKinney-Møller, who censored Larsens ideas in a way that Larsen hadn´t even experienced when he created his most famous building, that of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, one of the worlds most suppressive regimes. 86 years old Henning Larsen comments his work in the film, and in spite of the mildness of old age he talks sharply and critically about the relationship between power and art. Henning Larsen was awarded the world´s largest architecture prize, Praemium Imperiale, Tokyo 2013. He was too weakened to join the ceremony and recommended that Jytte Rex´ film was screened as his speech of thanks.
